In less than a decade, CAR has become one of nation’s leading autism research centers, housed within one of the largest and best-resourced pediatric research and healthcare networks in the country. CHOP cares for more than 10,000 patients on the autism spectrum each year, and we see the challenges of autism every day. Our goal is to develop game-changing new treatments and to maximize every person’s ability to live life as independently and fully as possible, while empowering families and professionals with the latest information on evidence-based treatment and resources available here and now.
The causes of autism are still unclear, and there is no cure, but our team of expert researchers and clinicians is committed to accelerating groundbreaking research to benefit families at CHOP and across the country. Our multidisciplinary team- made up of psychologists, developmental pediatricians, geneticists, neurologists, physical and occupational therapists, social workers, radiologists, informatics specialists, engineers, and computer scientists- is partnering with our patients and their families to develop personalized treatments tailored to each person’s unique characteristics. Together, we will make discoveries that can dramatically improve the lives of individuals with autism from childhood through adulthood.
